Haflong, June 20: A programme marking the release of the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) Scheme was organized at the Skill Development Centre, Haflong, Dima Hasao on Friday. The event was jointly organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dima Hasao, and the District Agriculture Office, Dima Hasao. A total of 116 beneficiaries participated in the programme and witnessed the nationwide release of PM-Kisan funds by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi through live telecast.

The PM-Kisan Scheme is one of the flagship initiatives of the Government of India aimed at providing financial assistance to eligible farmer families. Under the scheme, farmers receive ₹6,000 annually in three equal installments of ₹2,000 through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring transparency and timely support without the involvement of intermediaries.
The programme in Dima Hasao was part of the nationwide event during which the Hon’ble Prime Minister released the 23rd installment of PM-Kisan, transferring ₹2,000 each to more than 9.44 crore farmers across the country. The event also served as an awareness platform for farmers regarding various agricultural development programmes and government welfare schemes.
The programme was graced by Shri Mohet Hojai, Chairman, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC), as the Chief Guest. Shri Dhriti Thaosen, Member of Autonomous Council and In-charge Agriculture, DHAC, attended as Guest of Honour, while Shri Donpainon Thaosen, Executive Member, DHAC, was also present.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Ardhendu Chakraborty, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Dima Hasao. Mr. Jevin D. Changsan, District Agricultural Officer, Dima Hasao, delivered a brief lecture highlighting the objectives and benefits of the PM-Kisan Scheme. A ceremonial seed distribution programme under the National Mission on Edible Oils–Oilseeds (NMEO-OS), 2026-27 was also conducted by the Department of Agriculture, Dima Hasao, during the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Shri Mohet Hojai emphasized the importance of agricultural development and reiterated the commitment of the government towards the welfare of farmers. Guest of Honour Shri Dhriti Thaosen encouraged farmers to actively avail themselves of various agricultural schemes and support mechanisms provided by the government to enhance productivity and livelihood security.
Among the distinguished dignitaries present were Shri Amit Parbosa, Joint Secretary, Agriculture, DHAC; Shri Dinendra Jahari, President, Kisan Morcha; Shri Samir Chandra Roy, Chairman, Advisory Board, Agriculture Department; and Shri Somendra Longmailai, Chief Trustee, Keshav Smarak Nyas.
The programme was attended by Assistant Directors, Senior Agricultural Development Officers, Agriculture Development Officers, scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, and officials from various departments.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Shankar Gogoi, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection), KVK Dima Hasao. The proceedings of the event were efficiently conducted by Mrs. Parkey Gogoi, Subject Matter Specialist (Horticulture), KVK Dima Hasao.
